Hello friends! Today I’m sharing one of those card designs that’s just plain fun to make. It looks interactive and a little unexpected, but the construction is actually much easier than it appears.
For today’s project, I created a see-through fancy fold birthday card featuring beautiful tropical florals from Simon Says Stamp. One of my favorite things about this design is that you can easily customize it using whatever stamps, dies, or embellishments you already have in your stash.

CARD DETAILS
The fun part of this project is the card construction. The front of the card is divided into three sections – a top curved cardstock panel, a clear acetate window, and a coordinating curved cardstock panel at the bottom. Together they create a see-through front that offers a peek at the decorated inside of the card.
Although I used a large circle die to create the curved openings, you can easily adapt this design with rectangles, arches, or any other shape you have. Even a paper trimmer would work beautifully if you prefer straight lines.
I also added a second card base inside, creating another layer that opens independently while leaving plenty of room for a handwritten message.
To decorate the card, I stamped tropical flowers, monstera leaves, and a butterfly before coloring everything with Copic markers using simple flick-style coloring. I wanted the card construction to remain the star of the show, so I kept the coloring relaxed and approachable.
One little tip I shared in the video is covering the backs of alcohol marker-colored die cuts with plain white die cuts. This hides the marker bleed-through, gives the pieces extra stability, and creates a much more polished finish, especially on interactive cards where both sides may be visible.
I finished the design with foam-mounted florals, layered foliage, and die-cut paper hearts for dimension instead of traditional gems or sequins. The result is a cheerful birthday card that’s interactive, dimensional, and surprisingly easy to recreate.
