VIDEO TUTORIAL

In today’s video, I’m sharing one of my favorite features of the Christmas Cats die set – the ability to completely change each cat’s expression using the interchangeable eye pieces.

I’ll also show you one of my favorite tricks for creating soft, fuzzy cats, share a few hot foiling tips, make an interactive Christmas card using one of the new Spellbinders Spinners, and finish with lots of additional card inspiration.

You can watch the video below or over on my YouTube channel.

CHRISTMAS CATS DIE SET DETAILS

The Christmas Cats Etched Dies include four adorable cats in different poses, making them perfect for building playful holiday scenes.

Three interchangeable eye pieces work with the three open-eyed cats. Simply shifting the eyes slightly left, right, up, or down instantly changes each kitty’s personality. You can even trim the eye layer slightly with scissors to create even more expressions, from curious and surprised to sleepy, mischievous, or delightfully grumpy.

Cut your kitties from different colors of cardstock to create a paper cat that looks just like your real one!

SPINNING CAT CARD DETAILS

For today’s project, I created a clean grid design on brushed black cardstock using two sentiments from the coordinating Meowy Christmas BetterPress set, hot foiled in Matte Gold foil.

Tip: When hot foiling long skinny sentiments, I like to position them perpendicular to the Glimmer Hot Foil System. I’ve found this often produces beautifully crisp foiled impressions.

After foiling, I arranged the cats in a simple 2×3 grid (learn more about grid-style cards HERE) and popped each one up with foam adhesive for dimension. Although the set includes four cat designs, changing the cardstock colors, eye placement, and accessories makes every cat feel unique.

To add a fun interactive element, I attached one kitty using a Spellbinders Spinner, allowing it to rotate freely when the card is moved.

I finished decorating the cats using the coordinating Christmas Cats Accessories die set with sweaters, bows, hats, Christmas lights, and ornaments.

Another favorite trick? I die cut the tiny sweaters from the printed packaging of the Dear Santa paper pad. The smaller-scale patterns printed on the packaging are perfect for miniature clothing.

Finally, I embellished the card with Spellbinders Gold Gems and even gave the spinning kitty an ornament to bat around.

One of my favorite things about this collection is how versatile it is. Simply changing the colors, accessories, layouts, and eye expressions lets you tell a completely different story every time.
