Altenew | Hello Sunshine Floral Wreath Card. November Release Blog Hop + Giveaway (Now Closed)

Hello there! Thank you for stopping by to help celebrate Altenew November 2016 Release (more about this release and blog hop below). There are many great stamp sets to play with and I am anxious to share a card I made using one of them – Hello Sunshine. This is a bigger 6×8 stamp set with stunning floral images that are just perfect for coloring.

CARD DETAILS

I made this card at a crafty retreat a few weeks ago right in the middle of the Coloring Challenge by Kathy Racoosin; naturally, I couldn’t resist trying a new coloring medium and spending a few minutes/hours coloring. I used individual images from the Hello Sunshine stamp set and formed them into a beautiful floral wreath.

I did very little masking – I didn’t bring a lot of supplies with me to the retreat, so I had to use what I had and that was washi tape – so I masked my images with the help of washi.

The coloring medium I’ve been wanting to try is Prismacolor Pencils; I used them here to color these florals. Fantastic pencils and I’ll probably invest in a set for myself at the end of the year, that would make a nice Christmas gift. These pencils are soft and easy to blend and don’t take a lot of time to learn how to use. A definite must-have!

After I finished my coloring I stamped Hello Sunshine in the middle and added light gray pencil shading on the inside of the wreath. When I got home from the retreat I heat embossed You Make My World Brighter in white embossing powder onto black cardstock and foam mounted it onto my panel using black foam adhesive. I also trimmed my panel down to 4 x 5 1/4″ and foam mounted it onto a gray card base for a pop of dimension. I finished the card by adhering several clear droplets and by adding white gel pen dots here and there.

I have another card I made using new stamps and I’ll be sharing it in the next few weeks on my blog, so stay tuned!

    1. Love your colour choices. I’ve never used prismacolor pencils but eye them up every time I see them!

    1. I have prisma pencils but don’t use them. Love the look and need to learn to use them.

    1. Your card is so beautiful!!! Love it and Altenew:) I have never tried Prismacolor pencils but have them on my Christmas list:)

    1. I really love the wreath made with the Hello Sunshine stamp set. It is gorgeous!

    1. I always forget to use pop dots or similar to raise something or other and love this one.

    1. I love this beautiful and cheery floral card! The wreath design is just gorgeous

    1. Fantastic card from this new release. I love how you used coloured pencils, I have some, so this looks like something I could do!!! Thanks for sharing. Have a fabulous day. Cheers Donna Z 🙂

    1. I had tried a few Prismacolor pencils and a few Faber Castell pencils and a few Faber Castell Albrecht Durer pencils. I decided that I liked something soft (easier blending), but I also wanted the alternative of watercoloring then highlighting in pencil and having the colors match perfectly. I liked how soft the Prismacolor pencils were, but I felt that they broke more easily and the outside wasn’t as true to the actual color. Ultimately, I ended up with the Albrecht Durer. It was quite an investment, but I got the full set at the time for myself for Christmas during a Black Friday sale. 🙂 That was before I started making cards & wasn’t used to such investments in my own hobbies.

    1. I love the clean, modern look of this oh-so pretty card: really lovely. Thanks as always for sharing your creativity so generously. I’m an avid stamper and card-maker and often use coloured pencils. I’ve yet to try the Prismacolor range but would love to give them a go as the results look amazing.

    1. I love your card! Every time I see a card colored with colored pencils I think I’m going to do it but I have yet to. I think your coloring is fabulous!

    1. Your cards are ooo la la pretty! I haven’t used prismacolor pencils but you’ve made me very curious!

    1. I really adore your cards. I definitely thought you used marker to color them, because the colors were so bold. I’ve never tried Prismacolors before, but now I want to. Thanks!

    1. Love the card and the vibrant colors. I also have the Prisma colored pencils and just love them.

    1. Gorgeous card, Yana; your Prismalcolour colouring has brought these images to ‘life’! The ‘win’ for me is simply seeing your amazing creativity in action! Thank you! Adore You and Happy Dreams are on my must have list! Perfect for my niece who’s growing up (too quickly!) and discovering more about the big world she’s entering…

    1. So beautiful!! Love the bright colors and how you created a wreath of them. The black cardstock with the sentiment is a great touch too!

    1. Beautiful card! I do have Prismacolor pencils but I haven’t used them on cards yet. I don’t seem to have a lot of stamps that can be coloured in.

    1. So pretty and cheery! I really need to use my colored pencils more.

    1. Love how the colors pop! I have not used my Prismacolors in a long time (because I’ve been doing more watercoloring) but I think it ‘s time to pull them out again!

    1. I’ve not used the Prismacolor pencils. I’ve just started trying
to color with pencils – always stamped with ink and colored
with ink pens. I do like the look I’ve been getting and will
do more coloring with the pencils. Will check into these
pencils – better to have good material to work with.
thanks for sharing a wonderful card. The colors
      are so bright and happy.
