VIDEO TUTORIAL

As always, I filmed a video tutorial showing how to create this project from start to finish. I’m hoping you’ll enjoy it. Watch it below or on my Youtube channel.

Like this video? Please give it a big thumbs up (you can do this on Youtube video page right under the video) and share with a crafty friend! Leave me a comment too, I love hearing from you!

CARD DETAILS – KIT ONLY

I used the Ornaments background cling stamp from my kit for the main project. This stamp is designed to help you create cute little advent calendars; there’s also a clear stamp set that goes with it and a coordinating die to die-cut little windows for each of the ornaments to make the advent, but I’m not showing that in this video, instead I wanted to focus on how you can use this background stamp on its own without making it into an advent calendar.

I inked it up using the light blue ink, Summer Sky Hybrid ink from Hero Arts and stamped it onto white cardstock panel. I picked the color of ink with the color of Copic markers I had in mind. You can stamp this using any color of Copic marker friendly ink, you just need to have an impression on your paper to give you an idea where to color; we’ll heat emboss over the stamping once coloring is done.

I used GB11, BG13 and BG18 markers for my coloring and the idea is to color the ornament shapes to make them appear dimensional. The stamp doesn’t actually provide ornament outlines, the coordinating die does that, because I am using just the stamp alone I wanted to add definition to my ornaments and I’m doing that using coloring.

The coloring here is very simple, just 3 shades and I have my light coming in from the left so all ornaments are darkest on the right and lightest on the left. There are no stamped ornament outlines to follow so I am basically creating those using my markers.

Once my coloring was done I took my panel back into my MISTI tool, stamped the same image over my coloring but using Versamark ink and gold heat embossed it. The result? Beautiful!

I adhered my panel onto an A2 white side folding card base and added simple sentiment from my stash.

CARDS DETAILS – KIT ADD ONS

The other projects I’m sharing here are all made using an add on background stamp and also some older Hero Arts sentiments. I adore this gifts cling background (it will be well used for years to come; and it can be used for Birthday cards, too), it looks like the gifts are doodled and that style goes perfectly well with my latest obsession – coloring using a white pen.

I clear, gold, white and gold glitter heat embossed this background on various colors of cardstock (I didn’t use the clear heat embossed card) and used a single pen or brush to color select sections on the background. I recently shared a more detail video about coloring using a single pen or a pencil – watch it HERE if you’d like to learn more.

I used my white pen mostly, but also created a gold shimmer brush to color the green one. I used Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic inks + and old empty Tonic Studios Brush and filled it with the gold ink (and some water). This gave me a handy pen to color with!

I went with snarky sentiments for these cards, but any messages would work here. I gold heat embossed sentiment on white cardstock strips and foam mounted over my backgrounds to pop them up. Super easy and simple!

    1. I love this set and I love how creatively you’ve used it. This set is perfect for Christmas! The dimension you gave the ornament stamps is awesome! I really like the snarky stamp set and how you used that with the gift stamps. It’s all really beautiful Yana!

    1. I’m in love with these two background stamps!!! …because your cards are so beautiful

    1. Absolutely stunning cards, and you have confirmed my conviction that I need both the kit and the presents add on this month!!

    1. Love your cards and the way you gave dimension to the ornaments but only spot colored the packages. The latter would be great for mass producing and for birthday cards. Thanks for sharing!

    1. These cards are so pretty and so fast and simple to make! I love the Presents background stamp!

    1. Oh, WOW! These cards are stunning and thank you for the video. Wonderful Christmas kit.

    1. Watched the video and can hardly wait to start coloring. Thinking blue, white and gold . Thanks for the wonderful technique.

    1. Wow! What pretty cards! Love the ideas for coloring with just one pen! Has to be a little faster than using a bunch of dif colors….also love the idea you had for filling an empty pen with gold ink…repurposing! What type of gold ink do you like to put in that pen?

    1. Love the ombre and gold embossed ornaments and the all presents backgrounds as well with the snarky sentiments! Thanks for making the video, it’s always easier to watch and learn!

    1. Your ornaments look wonderful!!!!!!! The gold with the aqua is amazing. Nice job!

    1. The ombre effect looks really nice with the gold embossing. I never would have thought of that.

    1. I really like the turquoise and gold colored card, those colors are SO pretty together. I love how you improvise when you don’t have a particular item in your supply, I will be saving my empty Wink of Stella pens from now on!!

    1. Love all the cards but particularly the first one. The blue and gold look beautiful and it’s such a good idea. Tfs xx

    1. I’ve been following your single pen/pencil technique and absolutely love it. Great cards for this release.

    1. Love the snarky comments on your cards. I’m going to have to pick up that set! Your cards are beautiful, btw.

    1. WOW Yana, you have done it again! These are all so beautiful and I especially like the first card using the main kit.The colours are so beautiful with the gold EP, very elegant!

    1. Pretty cards and gorgeous inspiration. I can’t make up my mind
if I love the ornaments or the presents better. lol

    1. You showed us how basic techniques can be used to make wonderful cards! Thank you! I especially like the gold presents on the light blue card.

    1. I love this new kit. I like the option of making advent cards or elaborate cards. Beautiful work.

    1. Oh my goodness, I think your ornament card is my favorite of all the hop! The color choices are just so elegant and and the blending, stunning. The presents are also done just so well! I love watching your videos and these cards in particular, are amazing me. Thanks so much for sharing your creativity with us!

    1. The teal and gold is absolutely stunning! It reminds me of Tiffany’s!

    1. Yana, you know I ALWAYS love your projects. But on this one I do have a question: How were you able to stamp with the versamark ink, and emboss, getting it to only cover the top most part of the ornaments? seems like the versamark would be very difficult to control. Did you have to spend tons of time with your paintbrush, wiping off all that extra embossng powder? maybe when i get my kit this it will all make sense! Love ya…diana

    1. OMGoh, I love the shading on the ornament card! I couldn’t wait to read and find out how you did it! Thanks!

    1. I’m so glad that Hero Arts does this Blog Hop for each of their Kits. All of you who participate give such creative ideas and never are two the same. I can’t wait to get my kit and try so many of the ideas I’ve seen including yours! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Awesome creations, Yana! Love the first card especially! The gold really finishes this one beautifully. Coloring only a few pkgs on the other cards is perfect!
