Hello friends! I’m having a blast playing with my Masterpiece Box goodies and today I have two cards to share using WPlus9 Whimsy Alpha stamps. The minute a saw that stamp set I knew it would be perfect for making large sentiments on cards – just a sentiment, a background and nothing else.
Like this project? Remember to pin it and save for later!
I used my mini MISTI stamp positioner to align the letters and spell out my sentiments. I cheated in a way – I looked at my other stamp sets to find great sentiments I could spell with these stamps as nothing came to my mind and I didn’t want these to just say Hello or I Miss You, I wanted longer sentiments and my mind was just blank, so I looked at other sets for ideas.
Because the sentiment, Let Hope Anchor Your Soul, was a bit too long I decided I would replace one of the words with an image – Anchor (I did this on both of the cards I’m sharing today). The little anchor came from Sail Away stamp set from Simon.
I first stamped images in Versamark ink and covered with Hero Arts White embossing powder and heat set them. I double embossed this sentiment (easy to do with MISTI) for a thicker layer of white.
To add color to the background I used Distress inks and blended several colors (Peacock Feathers, Tumbled Glass, Evergreen Bough, Crushed Olive) with the help of my mini ink blending tool and also added water to activate the ink. My panel was trimmed using Simon’s Basic Rectangle die (second largest) and was mounted onto a card base with the help of fun foam.
I also attempted to make a watercolor Galaxy background. I can’t say I’m happy with the way it turned out, but this is definitely a start for me, I noted my mistakes and will try this again soon. Gansai Tambi watercolors were used to make this and I followed Kristina’s video tutorial (I watched it a few weeks ago, but I wasn’t watching it as I was making the background, maybe that was the problem).
The word Moon was replaced with a Moon image and I used a crescent moon from the Shine On stamp set. It looks more like a letter C here, but that just makes you pay more attention to the sentiment I guess.
After my background was ready I trimmed it using Simon’s Basic Rectangle die and adhered onto a black card base. I also went back (after I took these photos) and added black ink to the sides of the watercolor cardstock so that no white would show through.
