Funny birthday cards are perfect for friends and family members who appreciate a playful reminder that getting older does not have to be taken too seriously. The November 2026 Spellbinders Clubs feature humorous birthday card ideas with a fashionable chicken, a cake covered in flaming candles, cake-stealing geese, aging bananas, and interactive characters ready to deliver a piece of cake directly to someone’s face.
In this collection overview, I am sharing ways to combine die cutting, stenciling, hot foiling, BetterPress letterpress, heat embossing, dry embossing, and dimensional backgrounds. These projects range from beginner-friendly cards to more detailed interactive designs. The products can be used individually, but the coordinating sentiments make it especially easy to mix several clubs together.

November 2026 Spellbinders Club Card Ideas
Still Got It Chicken Birthday Card
The Small Die of the Month features a large chicken who absolutely refuses to act her age. She can be dressed with shoes, a purse, scarf, sunglasses, wine glass, and cane. The different accessories make it possible to personalize her for a friend or family member while keeping the design playful.
For my A2 card, I paired the chicken with the “Spring chicken status pending” sentiment from the coordinating Clear Stamp and Die of the Month. This is a good example of how the November club products work together. The chicken supplies the personality, while the sentiment completes the joke.
When assembling a detailed die-cut character, start with the largest body pieces and add the smaller accessories afterward. This makes it easier to adjust the placement of the shoes, scarf, purse, and sunglasses before everything is permanently adhered.
One Hot Birthday Cake Card
The Large Die of the Month creates a birthday cake covered with so many candles that it has caught fire. I used the “Your birthday has arrived” sentiment, but “Bring a hose” would be another wonderfully appropriate choice.
My finished card measures 4 1/2 x 5 3/4 inches. The cake can fit on an A2 card, but I wanted to give the design a little more breathing room. It would also work beautifully on a 5 x 7-inch card.
If you prefer an A2 card, keep the background simple and place the cake close to the center. For a larger card, you can add more space around the flames or include a longer sentiment without making the composition feel crowded.
Party On! Stitched Hat
The Stitching Die of the Month features a festive stitched birthday hat. I did not create a project with this set for the video, but it offers another way to add handmade texture to the birthday theme.
The stitched areas could be customized with the recipient’s favorite colors. A simple two-color thread combination would keep the project approachable, while a multicolored design could create a more festive result.
Cake Caper BetterPress and Foil Cards
Cake Caper includes three mischievous geese, coordinating sentiment plates, and stencils for coloring the images. The sentiments include “The cake was asking for it,” “Cake is my love language,” “Definitely not sharing,” “Make a wish,” and “Cake? What cake?”
I foiled the geese with Matte Black Hot Foil and used Polished Brass Hot Foil for the sentiments. The plates can also be pressed with ink using the BetterPress Letterpress System.
For the “Cake is my love language” sentiment, I cut the foiled sentiment apart with scissors and arranged it on two lines. This small adjustment helped the sentiment fit the card composition without changing its message.
The coordinating stencils make the geese quick to color. Start with the lightest ink and gradually add deeper color where you want shading. If you do not want to stencil, the images can also be colored with alcohol markers, colored pencils, or watercolor.
Frosted Finish Embossed Backgrounds
I used the Frosted Finish 3D Embossing Folder behind the cake-stealing geese. This 5 1/2 x 8 1/2-inch folder creates a textured surface that resembles plaster or cake frosting.
I embossed pink, gray, and pale aqua cardstock to see how the texture changed with different colors. Because the design is neutral, it supports the detailed focal images without competing with them. It is also large enough to accommodate several card sizes.
Wonky Check Embossing Folder
Wonky Check takes a familiar checkerboard pattern and gives it a warped, slightly offbeat appearance. I did not create a project with this folder for the video, but its playful geometry coordinates naturally with the humorous birthday theme.
Try using it behind a simple die-cut focal point or a bold sentiment. Keeping the surrounding embellishments minimal will allow the unusual checkerboard texture to remain visible.
Congratulations, You’re Older Sentiments
The Clear Stamp and Die of the Month includes coordinating dies that cut every sentiment in the set. This makes it possible to stamp directly onto a background or create separate sentiment pieces that can be positioned and raised with foam adhesive.
Some of the sentiments include “Make a wish. Hurry,” “Spring chicken status pending,” “Bring a hose,” “Enjoy the glow,” “Let’s party like I didn’t forget your birthday,” “I came, I saw, you aged,” “The candles don’t lie,” and “Your birthday has arrived.”
When working with a humorous image, select a sentiment that adds a second part to the joke. The sentiment should support the focal image without explaining every detail.
Banana Bread Stenciled Birthday Card
The Banana Bread Stencil of the Month is my favorite product from the November clubs. The design features aging bananas, making it an unexpected and very funny background for an older-themed birthday card.
I used Altenew inks to stencil the bananas and added a small amount of dry-embossed texture with the stencil. To dry emboss it in the Platinum Six, I used the A Base Plate, B Platform Top, the stencil with cardstock, an embossing mat, and the D Adapter Plate.
The embossed texture is subtle, but it adds another layer of interest when the card catches the light. I finished the background with green self-adhesive Color Essentials Gems. The sentiment was heat embossed in white on black cardstock, cut with its coordinating die, and mounted with foam adhesive.
This is a simple, clever, and high-impact design. The repeated stenciled background does most of the visual work, so the card only needs a bold sentiment and a few small embellishments.
Interactive All Clubs Crate Exclusives
The November All Clubs Crate includes two exclusive interactive products called You Want a Cake and You Want a Cake 2. The designs create characters who move to put cake into someone’s face.
There are feminine and masculine character options, along with clothing choices that can be customized. Changing the hair and clothing colors makes it possible to loosely personalize the characters for a friend or family member.
These designs are especially fun for recipients who enjoy interactive cards. Before adding adhesive, test the mechanism several times to confirm that all moving pieces have enough room to operate.
Tips for the Best Results
- Choose the sentiment before finalizing the composition so you can leave enough space for it.
- Assemble large die-cut characters first, then add small accessories after checking their placement.
- Use a slightly larger card base when a detailed focal point needs more breathing room.
- Cut sentiment plates apart only after foiling or pressing them, and plan the new arrangement before trimming.
- Build stenciled color from light to dark to reduce the chance of overpowering small details.
- When dry embossing with a stencil, use the sandwich recommended for your machine and do not force the plates through.
- Use foam adhesive behind a dark sentiment strip to separate it from a colorful patterned background.
- Test interactive elements before adhering the completed panel to the card base.
Ways to Customize These Birthday Cards
- Change the chicken’s accessories and clothing colors to resemble the recipient.
- Use rainbow candles for a bright birthday cake or a limited palette for a more sophisticated design.
- Press the Cake Caper plates with black ink instead of hot foiling them.
- Color the geese with markers, colored pencils, or watercolor instead of the coordinating stencils.
- Use the Frosted Finish folder for wedding cakes, cupcakes, or celebration cards beyond birthdays.
- Try green, yellow, and brown inks on the bananas to show different stages of ripening.
- Use the humorous sentiments with older products already in your collection.
- Adapt the interactive characters with different hair, skin, and clothing colors.

Can the One Hot Birthday cake fit on an A2 card?
Yes. The cake can fit on an A2 card. I used a 4 1/2 x 5 3/4-inch card to give the design more breathing room, and it can also be used on a 5 x 7-inch card.
Do I need a Glimmer Hot Foil System to use Cake Caper?
No. The plates can be used with the BetterPress Letterpress System and ink or with the Glimmer Hot Foil System and foil.
Can I color the Cake Caper geese without the stencils?
Yes. The coordinating stencils offer a quick coloring method, but you can also use alcohol markers, colored pencils, or watercolor.
