Simon Says Stamp | Masculine Birthday Card

The hardest cards to make? Birthday cards for guys. You can’t put any flowers on them, you can’t really use any fun colors or add pretty embellishments. So you end up being stuck with just the regular things. I recently needed to make a Birthday card for a guy and even followed the suggestions of my male friends to make a masculine Birthday card. They liked it, I should even say loved it. Me – not so much. Anyhow, here’s the card:

CARD DETAILS

I started with a sheet of dark blue cardstock, I used Soft Navy Blue by Simon Says Stamp and dry embossed it with the help of Square Dance stencil, also from Simon. I love to dry emboss with stencils, they are like small embossing folders to me.

Next, I ink blended the panel using Hero Arts Navy ink to darken the cardstock color a bit. I trimmed the panel to 4 x 5 1/4″ and adhered to mirror gold cardstock mat and foam mounted to A2 white side folding card base.

To create a sentiment for this card I used puffy letter stickers from one of Simon’s past card kits – Pebbles Inc. Jen Hadfield Anne Foil Foam Letter Stickers and also heat embossed “Wishing You” in Antique Gold embossing powder.
