Hello friends! Today I’m sharing several fun and playful cards featuring the new Coney Club collection from Hero Arts. As soon as I saw these products, I knew I had to create with them. They are whimsical, a little unexpected, and perfect for summer-themed cards.
The collection includes hot dog dies, ketchup and mustard bottles, coordinating stamps, stencils, and lots of pun-filled sentiments. It’s definitely one of the most unique cardmaking collections I’ve seen recently, and I had an absolute blast creating with it.

CARD DETAILS
One of the first things I experimented with was cardstock color. Since I wanted to skip ink blending for these projects (I still did some ink blending), I spent some time testing different cardstock shades for the sausage. I tried several colors from my stash and discovered that cardstock color alone can dramatically change the look of the finished die cuts.
For the ketchup and mustard bottles, I wanted to try something a little different. Instead of using ink blending to create shadows, I used three shades of cardstock and trimmed the die cuts to create a color-blocked look. This simple technique creates highlights and shadows while keeping the design bold and graphic.
I also added heat-embossed sentiments directly onto the bottles. The Many Franks stamp set includes the cutest pun-filled greetings, and embossing them onto the bottles instantly made the die cuts feel more finished and interesting.
For my first card, I went bold and dramatic. I layered the hot dog pieces using cardstock and fun foam to add extra dimension. I also stacked several layers of the ketchup and mustard die cuts to make them appear more realistic and substantial. The added thickness really helped bring the design to life.
For the background, I used my favorite Molded Frame embossing folder on black cardstock. The subtle texture creates interest without distracting from the focal point.
I also used the Cookout stencil from the collection to create a striped paper tray for the hot dog. If you don’t have patterned paper that fits your project, creating your own pattern with a stencil is a great alternative.
The second and third cards have a much cleaner look.
While I often gravitate toward dark and dramatic designs, I also love clean and simple cards. For these projects, I used soft blue cardstock backgrounds and focused on creating small scenes with the hot dog dies.
One card features a hot dog on a fork with ketchup and mustard bottles pouring condiments from above. The sentiment reads “Hot Dog, I Mustard-mit You’re the Best,” and it makes me smile every time I read it.
I added small die-cut onion pieces to the hot dogs and used layered cardstock to create realistic ketchup and mustard details. Even though the designs are simple, the dimensional die cuts add plenty of visual interest.
For another card, I combined the hot dog with a tomato from Buon Appetito. This is one of my favorite ways to stretch supplies and discover new uses for products I already own.
My final project is a 5×7 card featuring a playful hot dog pattern. And it is probably my favorite!
You guys know how much I love creating patterns, and I couldn’t resist building one with these dies. I arranged multiple hot dogs, ketchup bottles, a mustard bottle, grilling utensils, and additional food-themed elements to create a fun summer-inspired design.
I even used some of the condiment die cuts as background fillers, proving that small accessory dies can often become wonderful design elements all on their own.
One thing I love about die cutting is finding unexpected ways to use products. Several of the details on these cards were created using dies that were originally designed for completely different purposes. Sometimes all it takes is looking at a die from a different perspective to discover a brand-new use for it.
Overall, this collection was such a fun surprise. The playful imagery, clever sentiments, and endless customization options make it perfect for summer cards, friendship cards, thank you cards, and just-because projects.
Have fun stamping!
