It has been ages since I made a gatefold card (in fact, I can’t even remember ever making one), so I decided to make one using floral dies in my stash (you might remember these dies from another card I shared recently). Plus I needed to make a fancy Birthday card, so this gave me the perfect excuse to do some die cutting and play with my supplies.

CARD IDEA
To create a gatefold card, you would need a full letter-size cardstock sheet. Cut it in half and score each half to make 2 A2 cards (4 1/4 x 5 1/2″). Next, trim one of the cards slightly; I cut about 1/8 or 1/16″ off the card width. Adhere the cards together to create a gatefold. Super easy. From there, you can decorate the card any way you like. I opted to create a window in the first front panel and added foiling to the first and second front panels, as well as to the back of the card.
I used Simon Says Stamp Sea Glass cardstock for my card base and also to do some of the die-cutting (some flower layers). The rest of the flowers and leaves were cut using various cardstock colors from Simon Says Stamp and Spellbinders.
The foiling on the front and back was done using a mini slimline sentiment set from Spellbinders, Mini Everyday Sentiments (discontinued). The 2nd front panel was foiled using a duo-line circle plate (discontinued). All foiling was done in Matte Gold foil.
I used 2 floral sets to cut the flowers and leaves – Simply Perfect Layered Blooms (discontinued) and Mini Blooms and Sprigs. These two sets, while from 2 different collections, go together hand in hand and complement each other perfectly. You could also re-create this with other florals you have in your stash.
I tried to use mostly glue to adhere the florals, but I did use foam adhesive squares, especially for the largest flowers, to pop some of them up and add dimension to this card.
The flower centers were embellished using jewels from Pretty Pink Posh; they added quite a lot of wow to this card. I also used the same jewels to fill in any gaps I had in the background.
FLORAL PATTERN DIE-CUT CARD
I had quite a lot of die cuts left, so I utilized them for another card. This one is a simple A2 top-folding card. I foiled a “Happy Birthday” sentiment in the center of the panel using the same Matte Gold foil and next surrounded it with the floral die cuts. I love the way this looks!

I loved this tri-fold card and the colors on it were gorgeous. There were many good tips and techniques in this video. You must have spent hours die cutting. It was great that you were able to use the die cuts that were leftover to make another complete card.
