Hi everyone! Thank you for joining us today for the Deck the Halls Blog Hop from Hero Arts!
We hope to inspire you to create handmade holiday ornaments for your Holiday Tree or other holiday home decor.
Every year whenever I start decorating our Christmas tree I like to give my holiday ornaments a little makeover. Last year I dressed my ornaments up with black chalkboard tags and a fun red bow:
(you can see that post here, but its only in Ukrainian)
A year before that I wrapped a few ornaments in felt and dressed them up with few tags and flowers:
(you can see that post here, it is available in English)
And this year I decided to give my ornaments a new look by doing a bit of die cutting and stamping.
I die cut a Happy Holidays sentiment out of red layering papers from Hero Arts and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder for a nice glossy finish. I also stamped, heat embossed and die cut two medium and small size stars and added a bit of festive ribbon to my styrofoam ornament.
I used a hole punch and simply punched a hole in my starts and added them to my ornament string. This way I didn’t have to glue anything down. I also added a bit of festive ribbon from May Arts and secured it in place with a metal pin.
I did have a little trouble when attaching the sentiment. Finally I was able to glue it down to my ornament using the 3 in 1 Advanced Craft Glue from Beacon Adhesives.
If you’d like to see how I decorated this ornament in detail you can watch my video below or on Youtube:
