Simon Says Stamp | Stamping Holiday Pattern with Advent Holiday Icons (and dressing up critters for Christmas)
Hello there! If you know me – you know I LOVE to stamp my own patterns for cards. Today I have a card to share featuring a simple hand stamped pattern using Simon’s Advent Holiday Icons stamp set.
It’s a great stamp set to use for Advent calendars, but its also a fabulous one for stamping unique patterns.

VIDEO TUTORIAL
I’ve filmed a video tutorial where I am sharing everything in detail. You can watch it below or on my Youtube channel.

CARD DETAILS
I knew I wanted to add hints of white to my stamped and colored pattern, so I decided to to do my stamping on light gray paper, I used Fog cardstock from Simon. This is a perfect shade of gray – very light, but not too light.
I started by stamping 4 images from the Advent Holiday Icons stamp set using Intense Black ink. I picked holly leaves and berries, candy canes, mittens and stockings.
After my stamping was done I used just a few colors of Copic markers and did some very quick coloring. I used R39 and R24 for my red-colored images and YG67 and YG63 for my green-colored images. Since these are so small you don’t really need to use more colors, although you can if you want to. I don’t have a lot of colors of Copic markers so I try to stretch what I have.
After my coloring was done I waited to make sure my pattern was dry and heat embossed a 5th image from the Advent Holiday Icons set on top – a North Pole postmark in white embossing powder. I also used a white uni-ball gel pen and added white accents to berries, colored some sections on my candy canes, mittens and stockings.
I recently shared how I dressed up everyday animals, a giraffe to be exact, for Christmas. I was very happy to learn that you enjoyed this idea (and I loved seeing your interpretations) so I wanted to continue this idea. I used a flamingo from the Summertime Animals set and dressed him up in a warm scarf.
I also added a simple Christmas Wishes sentiment – heat embossed it in white onto red and trimmed into a small V-shape banner.
Lastly, I added a few clear droplets – I love how they always spice things up and help me complete my cards.

December 7, 2016I I tap on the advent holiday icon stamp set, it doesn’t do anything. Just an FYI. I love this card. I’m going to try to replicate it.

December 27, 2016I wasn’t sure how to use it at first, too. Stamping patterns is always a solution for me 😀 Have fun!

December 7, 2016Stunning card! Background is amazing! Love that you made it on gray cardstock, white accents stand out better. Dominant green color make it so Christmasy.
And a flamingo in a scarf is just a charm!

December 7, 2016I love the background on this card. Seems like a lot of coloring, but sometimes that’s a great stress reducer.
