Hero Arts | Color Layering Calla Lily Sending Prayers Card. Blog Hop + Giveaway
Hello there! Today I have a simple to make sympathy card with beautiful Calla Lily flowers from Hero Arts. This blog post is also a part of the Hero Arts blog hop celebrating the new 2019 Catalog Release (there are many fabulous new products to pick from, great new Color Layering Sets, fabulous background stamps and more). CARD DETAILS
I wanted to do a video tutorial for this card (and make additional examples), but with my trip to China I had pick and chose what I could use my time for. Maybe later I’ll feature this set in one of my “Color Layering with Yana” videos for Hero Arts, I want to try and stamp these flowers so they look white.
If you look closely, you can see that all 3 flowers are stamped in different colors of ink. I wasn’t sure what colors to use, so I ended up trying many different ink pads to stamp these. I used the following: Rose Madder, Bubble Gum, Soft Pink, Strawberry, Pale Tomato, Fresh Peach and Soft Cantaloupe. Leaves were stamped in Moss and Forever Green.
After cutting my images out using coordinating dies I also created a stem (I fussy cut it as I didn’t like the white outline the die was giving me); the stem is an outline image without a solid layer so you’ll need to color it using markers or other coloring medium. I colored mine using Copics in YG67 and YG03.
After creating A2 white side folding card base from Hero’s new Dove White cardstock I trimmed new Sand cardstock to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and foam mounted my images onto it creating an arrangement.
I recommend getting a Sampler pack of the new cardstock from Hero Arts to see/test all colors. Many of the colors from Hero are unique and something I didn’t have in my collection from other companies before.
I’ve already used their cardstock for a few of my projects, one that has been already posted is this pencil colored card:
This one was colored on PS313 Hero Hues Adriatic cardstock. Isn’t that color pretty? You can see the full post/video HERE.
The background for my card was lacking, so I added lots of splatter detail using Hero Arts White Iridescent Shimmer spray and also Tonic Studios Nuvo Mica Mist in Pecan Peach.
Finally, I gold heat embossed “Sending Prayers” and added a few sequins from the Champagne sequin mix.
