DIECember | Snowflake Blizzard Christmas Card. Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello and happy DIECember! Yes, I intentionally typed DIECember and not December, as DIECember is a month-long celebration of die-cutting founded by Simon Says Stamp. I am excited to join the celebration and bring you creative cardmaking inspiration featuring Simon’s newest products.

I’ve been long on the lookout for a set of snowflake stamps and coordinating dies, I had quite a few card ideas for a set like that, but all the snowflake sets I have in my stash don’t have coordinating dies. I was happy to discover the new Prismatic Snowflakes set from Simon now has a set of coordinating dies. It is like a whole world of cardmaking possibilities opened up allowing me to make all sorts of Christmas and Winter projects.

Speaking of snowflakes, we already had our first snow. One morning Oles and I woke up and Oles insisted there was snow on the rooftops. I debated it wasn’t, it was hoarfrost instead. We agreed to disagree on the matter lol. Anyhow, we did have real snow the next day. So the snowflakes set came at the perfect time!

CARD IDEA

My idea for this card was to create a snowflake blizzard around a center embossed sentiment. Easy to do with coordinating dies! You can replace the sentiment with anything else you like, make it a Winter card or even a winter Birthday!

CARD INSTRUCTIONS

Follow these instructions step by step to re-create this card:

  • Arrange snowflakes on the sentiment panel surrounding the sentiment. Adhere die cuts in place with the help of glue and foam adhesive. Layer some snowflakes up to create an additional dimension.
  • Trim excess and foam mount panel to A2 white side folding card base.
  • Color snowflakes using a clear shimmer pen to add shine. Embellish snowflake centers with silver jewels. Embellish background with silver sequins, add dots using a white pen.

This is an easy card to make, even one that would be easy to mass-produce, no coloring, just lots of heat embossing and die-cutting. Have fun crafting!
