Altenew | Modern Stamped & Glazed Backgrounds
Hello, friends! I have a few cards to share today created using clear background stamps from Altenew (plus a floral stamped pattern card at the very end of this post). I call these backgrounds modern stamped & glazed because this is how I see them. They both feel very modern to me in terms of design and color, they are both created using stamps and inks and, finally, they are both glazed as parts of each design is covered with dimensional Crystal Glaze.
If you are visiting my blog for the first time or have not yet subscribed – be sure to do so! I share lots of handmade projects every week delivering them straight to your inbox! I also occasionally share information about crafty sales and new product releases I love. Subscribe here.

CARD DETAILS
I started working on this card by heat embossing the Arabesque Medallion outline in Platinum embossing powder onto white paper. Next, I stamped the solid medallion layers using cool grays and Sea Glass ink color. I used my MISTI and double stamped most of these sections for perfect ink coverage.
I trimmed my panel to 4 x 5 1/2″ and foam mounted onto an A2 top folding card base. I also added a white heat embossed Thank You sentiment and outlined the outside of the medallion and filled in the inside non-stamped sections using Copic C1 marker.
Lastly, I coated several parts of the background with Nuvo Crystal Glaze to create a raised dimensional effect. I love the way it turned out on this card in particular – it looks very soft and beautiful.
Here’s a look at the second card featuring modern stamped & glazed background. I used very similar colors for this one, but also added a lot more deep blue.

CARD DETAILS
I started working on this card by heat embossing the grid outline in Gold embossing powder onto a white cardstock panel. Next, I used a hexagon stamp and started filling in the spaces with various color of ink. I went from the lightest, Sea Glass, to medium and dark blue and finished my stamping with a light gray – Silver Stone.
To create a sentiment a stamped and die-cut Hello and also added “just saying” and foam mounted both onto my background that was already adhered onto an A2 top folding card base. Next, I used the same product, Nuvo Crystal Glaze and coated some of the darkest hexagons to pop them up.
ADDITIONAL INSPIRATION
Being a fan of stamped backgrounds and various patterns I also used new florals from Altenew to stamp this easy background. I went with the same colors and absolutely no masking. I filled in the spaced in between the flowers and leaves using dots and darker gray ink color.
