Spellbinders | Circle Floral Cards for Friends (using April Small Die Of The Month). Video

Hello friends and welcome back! The 2 weeks that I didn’t craft (as I was first busy packing to move and later was busy unpacking) made me realize how much I love and how much I miss crafting! So I’m back to creating cards, filming videos and sharing my creativity with you!

Today I have some circle cards to share featuring a few products from Spellbinders including the all-new April Small Die of the Month.

CARDS DETAILS

Last month I shared a video showing some super colorful cards using Spellbinders new Classics collection. I only used one die from that line and was itching to play with the other dies, too. It’s been ages since I made any shaped cards so I decided to use a circle die from the Scored and Pierced circles set to create a circle card base for my projects.

In all of my meticulous packing I completely forgot to pack the most essential thing – cardstock! I did take a few sheets of my favorite Neenah Solar White, but somehow it didn’t occur to me to pack my colored cardstock (I vaguely remember shipping some cardstock, but I’m not 100% sure, so I’m just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it will arrive sooner rather than later).

That being said I had to find another way to create “color’ for my cards. I managed to find some gray cardstock, but I also wanted to use pink and green, so I solved the problem by coloring white paper using Copic Markers.

I die-cut a card base using the largest die from the Scored and Pierced circles set out of gray cardstock – I love that added stitched detail! And also die-cut a white panel using 2nd largest die from the same set. That one added scored detail to the circle edge which I also think looks rather fun.

I used a few sentiments from my stash – “Thank You. Your Awesomeness is Boundless” by Cathy Z from the Emphatic stamp set, “Thanks For Always Being So Delightful” from the Showers & Flowers set by Simon Says Stamp and “Friends Make Everything Better” from the Encouraging Greetings set by Pretty Pink Posh.

Next, I die-cut the flower parts and pieces using Spellbinders April Small Die Of The Month – this set features a bunch of different elements to create your own flowers. I colored white die cuts using Copics – RV09, RV11 and YG17 markers and also added white pen detail to some (I even heat embossed Thanks onto one of them using Circle Saying stamp set from Simon).

I used foam adhesive and some glue to put my flowers together and adhere them onto the card.

The leaves come as a stem and I did use them like that for one of the cards (you can see it on the photo below), but for the most part I cut the leaves apart and just tucked them under the flowers. Lastly, I created dimensional flower centers using Nuvo Drops in white.

    1. I’ve yet to make a shaped card … just because I keep forgetting to give it a try. Thanks for the reminder. I was living in a temporary situation for 5 months before I moved into where I live now. All my craft supplies were in storage. The first thing I did once I got unpacked in this home was to craft!!! I can totally relate to your experience. I was using polychrome pencils the other day on the gray toned paper. I could not get the red pencils to blend well. The gray of the paper comes through and the flower I was coloring looks speckled with gray (not the look I was going for). Had this happen with another image. I was wondering if you have this experience and if not what you do to avoid it. I was thinking of using gamsol, but was committed to practicing blending without that. Thanks, Yana (PS: “I should have written it down” (instead of “wrote”). Don’t ask me to explain the grammatical rule behind using the two past tenses of “write” because I can’t! But I do know: “I should have written” / “I wrote a comment on Yana’s blog”. Hope that helps.)

    1. Beautiful! Love the dark grey with the pink. Such a nice combination. Hope you’re getting settled into your new place and that you’ll have all your crafting supplies there shortly so you can get back to the full swing of creating

    1. I love what you did with the new Spellbinders small die of the month. Love the colour combo too. I am always needing Thank You cards and these would make ideal ones for me to make. Thank you for sharing them with us crafters. :O)

    1. Guess I need to pull out some of my small dies! I have a lot of similar Spellbinder shapes. Thanks for inspiring me again!
