Today I have a fun graduation card idea to share – and it’s interactive! I’ve been really enjoying adding simple interactive elements to my cards lately, and this one is about as easy as it gets while still having that “wow” factor.

CARD DETAILS
The main idea behind this card is a stamped book that actually opens. It just felt natural – if there’s a book on the card, you want to open it and see what’s inside, right? So I turned that into the focal point of the design.
I used a layered book stamp set to create a multi-color image. These kinds of sets are wonderful because you can build realistic images by stamping different parts in different shades. I went with a teal and yellow color palette – one of my favorite combinations, especially this time of year.
To make this into a graduation card, I added a sentiment to the front of the book cover using stamps from another set. I also included a small “open” prompt to guide the recipient, so they know there’s something interactive happening.
The interactive part is very straightforward. After die-cutting the book, I added a score line along the spine and made a small cut along the top edge of the cover. This allows the front panel to lift and open like a real book. Inside, I adhered another stamped piece to represent the pages and added a secondary sentiment. This is also a great place to include a handwritten message if you prefer.
To keep the book closed while still allowing it to open easily, I added a small magnet closure. It helps the cover stay in place and gives a nice, clean finish to the design.
For the background, I used a softly blended piece of cardstock and added texture by embossing it with a stencil. This technique gives a subtle raised pattern without overwhelming the focal point.
I also stamped a second book and layered it behind the main one using foam adhesive for dimension. A small graduation cap and a few star embellishments finish the card.
This project is a great reminder that interactive cards don’t have to be complicated. With just a couple of simple modifications, you can turn a standard stamped image into something much more engaging.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this inspires you to try adding a little interaction to your next card project.
