Simon Says Stamp | Happy Spring – Soft Watercoloring

Hello all! After I tried using softer colors for a card I shared here I’ve become inspired to try and use pastels more often. I am still a fan of bright and vibrant colors but sometimes I do want to do something different and using pastels is a great alternative.

I really liked the Umbrella image from Abby’s Spring Showers stamp set and decided to incorporate it onto a Spring scene on my card. I used the little adorable critters from the Baby Party Animals set, stamped them using new Intense Black ink from Simon (its waterproof, so perfect for watercolor, check out this video to learn more about its properties) onto smooth watercolor paper (I am using regular student grade paper) and colored using Prima Water Soluble Oil Pastels.

Lately I am always fascinated by Debby Hughes and I love how soft and perfect her projects are and she is the one who inspired me to use softer colors.

I stamped and colored a bunny, a piggy and a little kitty and cut those out using scissors. There is a set of dies that goes with Baby Party Animals stamp set, but I don’t have it. I also stamped several water puddles using beautiful Surf Blue ink, die cut them and foam mounted onto my card.

The Happy Spring sentiment was stamped using Stone ink to match the grey color used to color my bunny and also to match a strip of glitter to the left. I added numerous rain drops onto the card using same Surf Blue ink and also used the same color to stamp the Grunge Letter Background.

A lot of elements were foam mounted onto my card (I love to have some dimension on my projects). I also adhered several clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh as little accents.
