Foil. Foil. Foil. I can’t get enough of it. It is a monster to learn (trial and error in terms of what paper to use and how to foil), but worth it. I’ve been foiling for 2 years now and I am still making mistakes and still learning. But I love it. Today’s card features a big stunning “Merry Christmas” foiled in gold on black. I love the dramatic effect this gives.
This is the 6th post from my impromptu “It’s a Christmas Season” mini-series here on my blog. See the 1st post here, 2nd one here, 3rd one here, 4ht post is here, 5th post is here.

CARD DETAILS
Maybe I’m going overboard with black, but foil really does shine so much better on dark surfaces. I foiled the large “Merry Christmas” and added a tiny “wishing you” from my Christmas sentiment set. I love how these two plates, even though from different sets and collections, work perfectly well together.
I had a bunch of leftover glimmer poinsettias (from making THIS card and honestly, I still have loads more) so I used them to decorate this card. I added 3 poinsettias, some foiled leaves, and die-cut sprigs from the NOEL set. A very simple card and layout.
And lastly, I added Sea Glass jewels from Pretty Pink Posh. Lately, I’ve been keeping a lot of jewels directly on my desktop in a cute Bloom plastic dish from FSJ and I think this prompts me to reach for jewels nearly every time I make a card. I used Fashion Gold embellishments for the poinsettia centers (I used every last one I had), I feel like they make the perfect dimensional centers for these poinsettias.
All this Christmas cardmaking has me feeling inspired to begin decorating our home for Christmas, but it is still way too early. I do have some of the Christmas stuff out already as I use it for photography props. It is tempting to start decorating.

Wow!!! Stunning card!!!
Such a pretty card!!
Such a lovely card and like the blues instead of the traditional red and green. I bought that Poinsettia set and have made a card already with it. I did learn that you should foil and cut out after. But still came out well.
Absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE black cardstock!
WOW! GORGEOUS! So bold and dramatic! Who would ever think black for Christmas? It works beautifully! Keep those foiling ideas coming– I LOVE IT!
Lovely card…beautiful! May I ask how you store the scraps of foil for future use?
Such a shame they don’t sell that sentiment any more! I’ve only just started with hot foiling so I want a few different sized sentiments. Spellbinders sell my fave small sentiments and Honeybee my fave larger ones but I haven’t seen anything this size.
