Would you believe me if I said I stamped a background for this card using a single large letter U? I was going through my stamps looking for unexpected shapes to stamp a background for a card when I can across a U from the Big U Words stamp set from Simon.

I don’t think I’ve ever used this letter U for anything, it certainly wasn’t inked before so it was the perfect opportunity for me to it to a good use!
CARD DETAILS
Recently, I mentioned my  “Inspiration and Color” board on Pinterest and my desire to use images I’ve pinned for cardmaking inspiration. Today’s card, just like the one I shared a few days ago, was inspired by a picture saved to that board (I’m sharing it below).
This time I used my inspiration photo to pick the colors for my background. I went with several colors of ink from Simon and stamped letter U at an angle using: Lake Shores, Winter Sky, Maliblue, High Dive and Green Apple.
When stamping this background I used a clear block and Simon’s Large Grid Pad to align each consecutive image. After my stamping was done I trimmed background to 4 x 5 1/4″ and adhered in onto an A2 card base.
To create a sentiment for this card I heat embossed “So Happy For” in white embossing powder onto a black cardstock strip and foam mounted it onto the card. I trimmed the strip at an angle and adhered the remainder onto the card as well. Finally, to accentuate the word “You” (because the U stamped in the background wasn’t as obvious anymore) I stamped “You” in black ink directly onto my stamped pattern under the heat embossed strip.
I really love how clean and simple this card turned out and I also love the combination of colors I picked. Will you give this a try?

I don’t have a step by step for this card, but I did take one photo as I was stamping the background. I know a lot of you love to see photos like this, so sharing it here:

What a fabulous idea! Love this card.
What a great idea, Yana!! One of these days I’ll spend some time figuring out Pinterest and use it!!! I’ve heard so much about it and I’ve used it a little bit but don’t understand it much. I have heard others talk about getting creative inspiration from things they’ve seen there. Thanks!
think of Pinterest and boards on Pinterest as folders on your computer. In the past I used to save cards I love to various folders on my laptop (but I would only be able to look at them from that one laptop). With pinterest you can create folders, save images and see these images anywhere. Plus it suggest you similar images and you can search for things you are interested in.
and thank you! So glad you liked this card, Debbie!
What a fantastic way to use such stamps, it looks amazing Yana!
That’s probably in my top ten of favorite cards you’ve created. It’s a calm, simple graphic design. Love, love love the color scheme (and your inspiration piece). Really like the fact that you found use of a supply that previously just sat there…it’s now feeling some inky love! Great piece Yana. 🙂
Talk about getting more out of your stamps, Yana! Your colors are soothing and I always love a graphic card. Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend. ~HUGS~

I love how you take the smallest most insignificant things and make something beautiful with them. You’re always so creative! You had a wonderful inspiration photo. Those colours are beautiful combination.
Very cool background!
Clever!!!
