MFT Stamps | Pumped-Up Birthday Cards. Video

Hello, friends. Happy Thursday! I’m continuing to keep busy by crafting and making cards in my craft corner.

I’ll admit, it is getting more and more difficult to keep sane during the quarantine. My mom has been staying home alone, I do stop by to deliver groceries and call daily, but she is getting very agitated and I’m finding it nearly impossible to have a conversation with her without getting into a fight. How do you cope?

CARD DETAILS

In this video, I’m sharing how to quickly stamp colorful Birthday cards using MFT Pumped Up Alphabet stamp set. I started a piece of white cardstock cut to 4 x 5 1/4”. I wanted to stamp Happy Birthday on this card and I picked the colors of ink I wanted to work with. I didn’t want to stamp letters in solid ink color, I wanted there to be a bit of a color variation, so I picked 2 ink pads for each ink color. You can also use ombre inks for this, they make is very easy to have beautiful results, but if you don’t have ombre ink pads you can still achieve this look by using 2 individual ink pads.

Once I stamped the main sentiment I also added balloon strings stamped in light gray. I added a heat embossed sub sentiment to each of my cards and foam mounted it to add dimension.

Next, I used the Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen to add sparkle to each of the letters. I also coated every other letter with a generous amount of glossy finish. This made my letters dimensional and provided a really fun tactile finish to the card. It’s important to be very careful and go slow when adding the glossy finish so that you don’t mess anything up.

I set my first panel aside to dry, I made sure to wait for about 3-4 hours at least and while it was drying I worked on a few more panels as I was really on a roll and wanted to stamp a bunch of cards.

Lastly, I embellished my cards with pretty silver jewels. I had a blast stamping these Birthday cards with the MFT Pumped Up Alphabet set. It’s easy to use and allows you to make custom messages for any occasion!

    1. What a fun and festive card idea!! At the moment I’m coping by resting (threw my back out during a crafting session yesterday but probably brought on initially by stress/fear/frustration). I bought an iPad so I can face time with friends. For someone who lives alone it has been a game changer and a huge help emotionally. At least I can see other human beings. Also, I keep an eye out for things I can do to help my community. A couple of weeks ago I gave platelets for the first time as the American Red Cross is in urgent need. When I focus on what’s wrong with these times, I become agitated; when I keep an eye out for what I can do I seem to settle down a bit and accept that this is the way things are just for now. Taking this one day at a time. I’m interested to hear how others are coping ’cause I could sure use some other ideas. Thanks for the video, Yana.

    1. Dear Yana, thank you for sharing and big thanks for donating blood. You are so right — focusing on what you CAN do (like giving blood and inspiring us) is so smart. This is such a difficult time, especially for folks who live alone. And the news just keeps us whipped up. Yesterday one of my friends said she has “tea” with her mother over Facetime. Same time every day, they each make a cup of tea and then sit down to FT and they agreed not to discuss virus issues, just trying to focus on good stuff. Will keep you and your mom in my prayers. Trying my best to send positive energy out into the universe. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts AND your lovely cards! Much love, Sherry

    1. I know what you mean about your mom. My mom is alone by herself in Charleston, SC. I am in GA. She insists on staying there and not staying with us. She is 81 and not in the best of health. She stays home and only ventures out for groceries. When I say I’m coming, she freaks, No! She says. Stay there, stay home! She says she is fine. I am so worried but I respect her wishes. Believe me, I’ve lived with this for years.
