Hello and welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video! I’m back with another fun, quick tutorial for you. Today, we’re diving into a color blocking technique (see more Color Block card ideas HERE) that’s perfect for mass-producing cards, especially if you have a book lover in your life. For this project, I’m using the One for the Books stamp set and coordinating dies, paired with Neenah Solar White cardstock and Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks and Cardstock.
CARD DETAILS
Start by stamping the book covers with Honey Ink — I’m using my MISTI to ensure crisp, clean impressions every time. For the spines, I used Mocha Ink, and for the pages, I stamped Latte Ink followed by Cappuccino Ink for the top page details. The best part about this project is that you can stamp multiple images at once for easy mass production!
To add a touch of elegance, I used the Timeless Blooms stamp set to frame the books with a pretty rose cluster. I stamped the flowers using Carnation Ink and the leaves with Perfection Ink. These little details elevate the design and make the card extra special.
The One for the Books set includes three sentiments: “Thank You,” “I Love You,” and “Happy Birthday.” I used all 3 sentiments and all5 subsentiments to make my cards. I love how well they mix and match!
For the bookmark detail, stamp it after cutting out the book image if you’re using the coordinating die. It’s a small step, but it adds a lot to the overall look.
Color blocking is a fantastic way to create bold, vibrant backgrounds in a flash. For this, I cut Cotton Candy and Honey cardstock into blocks. First, I cut 4 ¼ x 5 ½” panels, then sliced them in half at the 2 ¾” mark, giving me two identical-sized panels that fit the front of an A2 card. It’s quick and makes such a fun impact!
For the final step, pop everything up with foam adhesive to add some extra dimension, and voilà! You’ve got a beautiful, book-themed card that’s perfect for sending a note to your book-loving friends.
WHY YOU SHOULD TRY COLOR BLOCKING
Color blocking is such a simple technique, but it brings so much depth and vibrancy to your cards. With just a few colors of cardstock, you can create striking backgrounds that really make your stamped images pop. It’s a fun, easy way to elevate any card design!
