Simon Says Stamp + Hero Arts | Masterpiece Box – Color Layering Cardinal Card
Hello friends! Let me start by saying – have you seen the Masterpiece Box from Simon Says Stamp? Its amazeballs!
I’m having a blast playing with my Masterpiece Box goodies and today I’d like to share a card I made using Hero Arts Color Layering Cardinal stamp set. This is a new set part of Hero Arts Holiday 2016 catalog (they are sneak peeking new catalog goodies now, check them out HERE).
I’ll be sharing more projects using stamps from the box soon, so stay tuned!

CARD DETAILS
To create this card I stamped Color Layering Cardinal bird using Ruby and Red Royal colors of ink. I skipped the first most solid layer of the bird as I wanted to have a lot of contrast on my final stamped piece and so I left the first layer blank/white.
I really love the white highlights I was able to achieve this way, looks like the bird is covered in snow. This isn’t the first time I skipped a base layer of the color layering stamps, check out this orchid card if you want to see more examples of this technique.
This card is also a shaker, I die cut a partial circle using Simon’s Stitched Circles die, but instead of using clear acetate I used vellum for a frosty look. My shaker was filled with a variety of little sequins from Pretty Pink Posh (I have all of them linked down below).
I also stamped and cut out a branch using Cup of Joe ink and stamped pine needles in Soft Olive ink. My sentiment, Love Joy & Piece was heat embossed in Gold embossing powder.
My panel was decorated with small and medium clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh, I also added a strip of gold glitter paper and some red and white backers twine. Instead of using a white card base, I used a light green one from Hero Arts, its green on the outside, but is white on the inside, so perfect to write a sentiment.

July 15, 2016thank you, Karen! I’ll try to do one in the future, but its very simple – all you need to do is cover just a part of the die (the part you want to cut) with the top cutting plate and leave the part you don’t want to cut uncovered.
