Spellbinders | Quilt It Collection – Thanks for Always Being There

Hello, friends! I continue to share cards I created using Spellbinders – Quilt It Collection. You can find first project here and second one over here.

To create this card I used Gems Quilt die. This one cuts out several different shapes – half hexagons, triangles and hexagons that can be arranged in a number of different ways. I went with the traditional arrangement for this card.

I looked back at some of the cards I made in the past and found a few additional ideas. If you are to use triangles only, you can create a pattern like this; if you use hexagons only, you can make a pattern like this one or like this.

CARD DETAILS

I picked just a handful of colors of cardstock for this card – I wanted to keep it rather monochromatic. I went with Surf Blue, Audrey Blue, Sea Glass cardstock from Simon Says Stamp. After cutting the pieces out in my Platinum die cutting machine I added a sheet of strong double sided adhesive to a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ panel and adhered my die cuts in place forming a pattern. I find adding adhesive to the panel I am building on, rather than to the cardstock I am die cutting from saves me a LOT of adhesive, plus there’s hardly any waste this way.

I trimmed my panel to 4 x 5 1/4″ and foam mounted onto an A2 top folding card base. Next, I stamped a simple “Thanks For Always Being There” sentiment using Simon’s Thankful Heart stamp set in black ink and foam mounted onto the card.

Lastly, I added a number of enamel dots using Nuvo drops in Gloss White.
