Simon Says Stamp | Undersea Friends Card. Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello crafty friends, welcome to my blog! I’m thrilled to join Simon Says Stamp for their Friends Like You Release Blog Hop! I have a CAS card to share today featuring a new Undersea Friends stamp set – it is a fun one to create cards for friends who enjoy fishing. One of my girlfriends loves finishing (it was unusual for me to learn this about her, as I was sure that fishing is a strictly guy thing, I was so wrong!), and I made this card for her.

CARD DETAILS

I started this card by stamping the cute fishies and air bubbles using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Hammermill cardstock. Next, I colored the fish using Copics. I used the following colors:

• RV14, RV13, RV11 and R27 for the pink fish
• Y19, Y15, Y11 and YR14 for the yellow fish
• B000 and B00 for the air bubbles

I cut the images out using coordinating dies (do get the die set for these stamps – I think it is a must! These images aren’t easy to fussy cut).

To create the “pond,” I made a template by drawing a blob shape on paper and cutting the inside blob portion out, leaving a mask which I used with the Seafoam ink to ink blend the water. I love to use this trick to help me ground my elements. If you have a stencil shape, you can use that, or maybe even a die to cut the “pond” from colored cardstock.

Next, I foam mounted the fish and glued the air bubbles; I also foam mounted the main panel (cut to 3 3/4 x 5″) onto a white card base. Lastly, I added sparkly sequins to finish my scene. Love the result!
