Simon Says Stamp | So Much To Be Thankful For – Glimmer Paste Dimensional Background

The last few days have been absolutely crazy busy – Creativation show was a blast and now that it’s over I am slowly getting back to my usual routine. Inspired by so many incredible things I spotted at the show and all the most kind-hearted people I got to meet and hug I created this “So Much To Be Thankful For” card.

CARD DETAILS

I started working on my card by creating an ombre ink blended background. I picked a few of my favorite colors from Simon and blended them onto a piece of white cardstock. I used: Spring Rain, Scuba, High Dive and Teal. I blended colors at an angle going from lightest Spring Rain to darkest Teal.

Next I taped Simon’s Diagonal Stripe stencil onto my paper and applied a generous amount of Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone. I spotted this product at Tonic booth at the Creativation show and wanted to give it a try.

I was rather impatient and used a heat tool to speed up drying time of the paste. Like any other texture paste, this one will bubble if you heat it up. So I was very careful not to keep my heat tool in one spot for too long to avoid having bubbles. Once the paste dried (it took about 10 minutes with the help of a heat tool) it became hard and rough to the touch.

I trimmed my background panel to 4 x 5 1/4 inches and set it aside. To create a sentiment I used a beautiful “So Much To Be Thankful For” one from the Thankful Heart set and heat embossed it in white embossing powder onto a vellum strip. Next I added some May Arts natural twine and wrapped both around my background panel and foam mounted latter onto an A2 top folding white card base using fun foam.

I also heat embossed additional “You are simply the best” sentiment in white onto white and blended a heavy layer of teal ink to create paper that would match the rest of the card.
