Simon Says Stamp | September 2017 Card Kit – Sending Lots Of Color Your Way

Hello, friends! Simon’s September 2017 card kit is full of vibrant colors and delicious celebratory images.

For no apparent reason I seem to rarely use colored cardstock from my kits and I just hoard it and hoard it and keep it for later. Yet that “later” never comes. This time I decided to challenge myself to use mainly just the cardstock from my kit to create vibrant, colorful cards.

CARDS DETAILS

I made 3 cards in total, all using colored cardstock (and a bit of patterned paper), stamps and exclusive enamel shapes. My first card, Happy Birthday, was created by adhering colored cardstock at an angle onto an A2 card base. I first added Doll Pink, next tucked Audrey Blue, added Lavender and finished off with Cotton Candy.

After having created a bold geometric background I did some stamping in black ink. I stamped “Birthdays Are For Fun, Friends and Eating Your Weight In Cake”; added a row of Birthday candles, two black stripes and a few more Birthday-themed sentiments from the stamp set included in the kit.

Next, I embellished two of the colored panels with enamel shapes – I used foam adhesive and popped them up (cupcakes and ice cream) so some dimension.

I also made a slightly smaller, 4 Bar card. I started working on this one by stamping “Sending Lots Of Color Your Way” sentiment. Next, I adhered pieces of colored cardstock at an angle framing the message.

I overlapped many of the colors to create movement and adhered enamel dots in matching color onto most of the sections. Lastly, I added 3 enamel hearts above the sentiment.

I hardly touched the patterned papers in my kit – so there are still plenty of supplies left to play with.

    1. I love the last card, Yana. It reminds me of a lens shutter. Clean, graphic design that ties everything together in one beautiful picture!

    1. I love how you cut the papers to create the background! Very creative and clever! TFS

    1. Love your new cards – bright and colorful! I, too, hoard decorative paper and lately have been challenging myself to take out a paper pad and make cards from it! It’s been fun and I’m happy with my pretty cards! Thanks for all you share and the inspiration you give all of us!

    1. What a unique and fun way to use paper!! My favorite is also the last one. I really like how the eye gets drawn right into the center of the card. Love the colors you’ve used. They certainly look like fun to make!! Thank you, Yana.
