I had a super busy weekend with a quick 3-day trip to Poland (we go there to shop for IKEA as there isn’t one in Ukraine) so I’m writing this post in a bit of a hurry. So much to tell, yet not enough hours in the day to do so. I’ll share my shopping in another post, meanwhile, let’s talk about the kit! It is a great one just in time for Summer!

Hero Arts My Monthly Hero June 2019 Kit

I have to apologize, I don’t have many card examples to share, just 2 projects this time, but I’m hoping these will give you some ideas on how you can use your kit. Enough chit chat lets dive in! The first card features one of my all-time favorite stamping techniques – pattern stamping. Watch my video for things you DON’T WANT TO DO when stamping patterns.

VIDEO TUTORIAL

As always, I filmed a video tutorial showing how to create this project from start to finish. I’m hoping you’ll enjoy it. Watch it below or on my Youtube channel.

Like this video? Please give it a big thumbs up (you can do this on Youtube video page right under the video) and share with a crafty friend! Leave me a comment too, I love hearing from you!

JUNGLE PATTERN CARD – DETAILS

I began making this card by using just a few images from my kit, I clustered them close together when building my background. I made sure to fill every little corner with a stamp so that I had less white/open space on the finished card. I used one large image of the elephant, this was my starting point, added lots of leaves and the image of a cheetah, which is 2nd in size on this pattern.

Next, I added smaller images around those two. Having stamped the first cluster I re-used the same images to build the pattern and extend it further beyond the background. I also rotated my images this time, flipped some leaves upside down and to the side where it made sense to do so on my card.

I used the following marker colors to color this pattern: YG03, G99, G94 to color the greenery, BV08, V17 to color some of the flowers, especially those that looked like succulents, W5, W3, W1 to color the elephant, Y38, Y17, Y35 to color the cheetah, E33, E15 and Y26 to color the coconuts as well as C9, C7 and C5 to color the toucan. I also used a white pen to add spots to the snake and also fix any of the Copic marker bleeding. Next, I added a stamped sentiment and also a couple of enamel hearts between the images where there was space.

Pattern stamping is something I absolutely love as there doesn’t have to be any rhyme or reason to your card as it would have to be on a card featuring a scene, so it’s a very relaxing way to stamp and play with your supplies.

JUNGLE SUNSET SCENE CARD – DETAILS

I did mention I had another card idea to share and this one features a scene. I white heat embossed Leafy Bold Prints background in regular white embossing powder on Azalea Cardstock, ink blended a sunset-like background using Hero’s new reactive inks. For this background, I blended Lemon Drop, Creamsicle and Taffy on Distress Watercolor Paper and spritzed it with water to help the ink move and also to give me these pretty spots. I trimmed this background down, matted on a white card and foam mounted on my card.

Next, I had previously stamped, colored and cut out a few additional images from my kit – a branch, an elephant, a cluster of monstera leaves, a flamingo, an also a snake. I used a mix of regular and thin foam adhesive to foam mount these elements on the card to make a jungle sunset scene.

As you can tell there wasn’t a place reserved for the sentiment, so I stamped one on a strip of white cardstock and just added it vertically to the right of my ink blended background. It’s an unusual placement, but it adds a nice something extra to this card.

    1. You’re My Paradise is such a cool card. I like how you added so many elements. NIVE

    1. First I have to say: I LOVE that elephant! Wish HA was selling it alone. I really appreciate your sharing what didn’t work with the one background. I’ve not done much with stamping my own background (yet!), but I think you’re a master at it and one day I’ll play more with it. Such a help to hear you explain what worked — and didn’t work — and why. I love the 2nd card you made (with, of course, the elephant as the focal point!!!). Thank you, Yana.

    1. Both of your cards are great. I really like your patterned stamping, and that bright pink background for the elephant card is striking.
