Hi friends! I’m back to walk you through one of the most exciting (and, yes, advanced!) sets in my City Holiday collection with Spellbinders — the Happiest Holidays BetterPress Registration Set. If you’re already familiar with BetterPress, you’re in for a real treat. And if you’re new — don’t worry, I’ll guide you through it step by step!
This set brings layered letterpress magic to your cards — with three separate plates to create a multi colored, beautifully registered holiday design.

DETAILS
To begin, tape the registration guide onto your BetterPress platform (I use Best Ever Craft Tape for this). Next, align an A2-sized piece of BetterPress cotton cardstock on the clear plate, taping it down according to the markings.
You’ll notice the guide includes colored outlines — green, pink, and black — which correspond to the three layers of the design. This helps make alignment easy and accurate as you go.
LAYER 1 – HAPPIEST HOLIDAYS (GREEN OUTLINE)
Start with the Happiest Holidays sentiment plate. You can use any ink you like — I used Spruce for a change from the usual black, and it looked beautiful. Press it using your manual die-cutting machine. You’ll get that gorgeous tactile impression that makes BetterPress so special!
Tip: You can also foil this layer if you prefer a shiny finish. I did one version with gold foil on Oceanside cardstock — it’s stunning!
LAYER 2 – FOLIAGE (PINK OUTLINE)
Next, align the foliage plate with the pink lines. I used Laurel ink for a traditional green holiday look. Take care when inking, not to shift the plate — use your fingers or a tool to reposition if needed. Then, press again!
LAYER 3 – BERRIES (BLACK OUTLINE)
Finally, add the berries using the four small plates. These can be tricky to align, so go slow. I used Dina Wakley Magenta for a vibrant pop, but you can try pinks, reds, or even skip the plate entirely and draw the berries in with a pen.
FOILING VS. PRESSING
You can press all three layers using BetterPress ink, or foil any or all of the layers for extra shine. Foiling gives you the flexibility to work on darker papers, which I love for dramatic holiday cards.

Use the Happiest Holidays sentiment alone (pressed or foiled)

Add the foliage and berries for a full layered look
Note: the foliage only works when paired with the sentiment, since it wraps around the letters — but you can mix and match how many layers you want to include.
The Happiest Holidays BetterPress Registration Set is definitely the most advanced in the City Holiday collection, but it’s also one of the most rewarding. With just a few extra steps, you can create beautiful, dimensional cards that feel both classic and fresh.
