Every December, the Spellbinders Crafty Advent Calendar brings a little moment of creative joy to cardmakers — and in 2025, I decided to fully lean into that experience.
Instead of simply opening each window, I challenged myself to create a card for every single day, using the surprise from that window as my starting point.
I created 24 unique cards, filmed companion videos, revisited older favorites from my stash, experimented with techniques, and let curiosity lead the way. Some days were quick and playful, others involved problem-solving and experimentation — but every project reminded me why I love cardmaking so much.

Day 1 – Puppy Love Die Set
The first surprise in the Spellbinders Crafty Advent Calendar was an adorable puppy die set complete with tiny details and the sweetest “I woof you” sentiment. I turned this into a playful Valentine-style card using soft pastels and heart details, proving that even the smallest die sets can create big personality.

Day 2 – Mushroom Stamp Set
Day two revealed a charming mushroom stamp set that was perfect for Copic coloring. I created a cozy, forest-inspired thank-you card and used a restamping trick to achieve crisp outlines after coloring — one of my favorite techniques for polished stamped images.

Day 3 – Magical Bunny Die Set
This whimsical bunny-in-a-hat die set instantly sparked a sense of fun and experimentation. I paired it with a textured background and a foiled sentiment, embracing a happy accident during embossing that added unexpected charm to the final card.

Day 4 – Build-a-Stamp Die Set
Day four brought a clever stamp-themed die set, which I customized using woodgrain cardstock and a foiled sentiment from my stash. Mixing older favorites with the advent surprise made this card feel personal and truly one-of-a-kind.

Day 5 – Bold Floral Die Set
The floral die set from day five inspired me to step outside my comfort zone with a bold, primary color palette. By mixing different white cardstock textures and adding subtle dimension, this card shows how color choices alone can completely change the mood of a design.

Day 6 – Mini Embossing Folder & Partial Embossing Technique
Day six revealed a mini embossing folder with a modern circular pattern that immediately reminded me of bubble wrap. Because this folder is narrower than an A2 card front, it invited experimentation — and that led to one of my favorite techniques from the entire series.
To create a full embossed background, I embossed the panel in sections, carefully repositioning the folder and controlling plate placement so previously embossed areas wouldn’t flatten. The result is a continuous textured panel that feels intentional, not pieced together.
I finished this card with layered florals, foam-mounted elements, and a warm, unexpected color palette featuring Cinnamon cardstock — a shade that quickly became a new favorite. This card is a great example of how a smaller tool can push you to try something new and end up with a truly custom result.

Day 7 – Butterfly Stencils with Dry Embossing + Ink Blending
Day seven introduced a butterfly stencil set, and instead of using it only for ink blending, I decided to explore dry embossing with stencils — a technique I don’t use nearly often enough.
I dry embossed the butterfly first, then layered ink blending over the raised design using warm yellows, pinks, reds, and purples. The combination of soft embossing and vibrant color created a focal panel that felt dimensional yet airy.
Paired with delicate florals and a foiled sentiment, this card highlights how stencils can do much more than create flat backgrounds. It’s a technique worth revisiting if you enjoy subtle texture with bold color transitions.

Day 8 – “Happy Day” Sentiment Banner with Elegant Florals
Day eight brought a long “Happy Day” sentiment banner die, perfect for celebratory cards. I leaned into elegance rather than playfulness, backing the letters with gold glitter cardstock for a refined look.
The banner became the anchor for a floral-focused design. I created custom floral clusters by trimming and rearranging existing dies — a simple reminder that dies don’t always have to be used exactly as designed.
Set against a softly embossed background and finished with gems and layered dimension, this card feels festive, polished, and versatile enough for birthdays, congratulations, or everyday happy mail.

Day 9 – Sequins & a Bold Shaker Card
Day nine delivered a pack of beautiful sequins, and for me, that almost always means one thing: a shaker card.
I used an emerald-cut shaker dome to keep construction simple while allowing the sequins to move freely. The background was embossed for texture, then layered with rich jewel tones — deep blues, mustard yellow, purples, greens, and a pop of red for contrast.
Framed with dimensional florals and finished with a foiled sentiment, this card is bold, graphic, and interactive. It quickly became one of my favorite projects from the entire Advent Calendar.

Day 10 – Toast Die Set with Personality
Day ten revealed one of the most playful surprises: a toast character die set. I had so much fun dressing these little toasts up with glasses, bows, and accessories pulled from older collections in my stash.
By mixing dies from different sets, I turned the toast into full-on personalities — proof that character dies are incredibly versatile when paired with unexpected elements.
Set against an embossed background and finished with a foiled sentiment, this card shows how whimsical designs can still feel polished and intentional.

Day 11 – Sentiment Stamps Meet the Toast (Again!)
Day eleven introduced a sentiment stamp set, and instead of starting from scratch, I revisited the toast theme from day ten — this time giving it a culinary twist.
By combining the toast with elements from the Bona Petito collection (forks, chef details, food accents), I created a playful scene that brought the sentiment to life. This card is a great example of how revisiting earlier Advent Calendar surprises can open up new creative directions.

Day 12 – Vintage Telephone with Blooming Florals
Day twelve featured a vintage rotary telephone die, a design filled with nostalgia. Rather than keeping it neutral, I went bold with a hot pink color palette and layered the die pieces for extra dimension.
To soften the graphic shape, I added florals from the Parcel & Post collection, turning the telephone into a blooming focal point. The background was color-blocked and embossed for subtle texture, and a large foiled sentiment completed the design.
This card balances bold color with classic shapes and remains one of the most eye-catching projects in the series.

Day 13 – Layered Mini Embossing for Extra Texture
Day thirteen brought another mini embossing folder, and instead of using it on its own, I experimented with layered embossing.
I embossed the panel first with the mini floral folder, then embossed over it using my Molded Frame Embossing Folder. While the second pass softens the original texture, it doesn’t erase it — creating a layered, almost fabric-like effect.
Finished with festive greenery, metallic accents, and a holiday sentiment, this card proves that embossing folders can work together to create depth well beyond a single impression.

Day 14 – Worm Die with Whimsy & Character
Day fourteen’s surprise was a charming little worm die, complete with raindrops and a leaf umbrella. Naturally, I couldn’t resist giving this character some personality.
I added glasses, a hat, and a tie from other die sets, transforming the worm into a quirky little star. The background was embossed, the raindrops layered for movement, and a “Get Well Soon” sentiment tied everything together.
This card perfectly captures the playful side of the Advent Calendar — reminding us that cardmaking doesn’t always have to be serious to be meaningful.

Day 15 – Fishbowl Die Set with a Floral Twist
Day fifteen revealed a charming fishbowl die set, complete with a sweet little fish and layered details. While the fishbowl is adorable on its own, I saw it as an opportunity to think outside the box and turned it into a vase, filling it with long-stem florals pulled from my stash and earlier Advent surprises.
To complete the card, I experimented with partial embossing using my Molded Frame Embossing Folder, allowing the design to fade softly on one side for a subtle, unexpected effect. Layered textures, tone-on-tone blues, and a simple encouraging sentiment came together to create a calm, modern card that feels both playful and thoughtful.

Day 16 – Curved Sentiment Banners & Floral Focus
Day sixteen introduced a set of curved sentiment banner dies featuring cheerful phrases like Happy Day, Congrats, and Good Vibes.
I paired the banner with a lush floral cluster created using an older Vivid Blooms die set, letting the sentiment become part of the design rather than the sole focal point. After some experimenting, I landed on a clean white background that allowed the soft pinks, greens, and gold accents to truly shine.

Day 17 – Sequins & a Graphic Shaker Card
Day seventeen brought another pack of sequins, and I couldn’t resist turning them into a shaker card once again. This time, I transformed the Gorgeous You perfume bottle die into a bold shaker element filled with clear iridescent sequins.
A striking blue-and-orange color palette, diagonal background details, and minimal embellishing resulted in a modern, graphic card with lots of movement and personality.

Day 20 – UFO Die & Playful Color
The tiny UFO die from day twenty was whimsical and impossible not to love. I combined it with the You’re Out of This World sentiment for a clean, playful card featuring bold pinks, yellows, and a deep indigo background. Simple white heat embossing and hand-drawn star details completed this fun, kid-friendly design.

Day 21 – Best Wishes Sentiment & Happy Hour Layers
Day twenty-one delivered a small but mighty Best Wishes sentiment die — one of those essentials that works for nearly any occasion. I built a layered, cocktail-inspired card using dies from the Happy Hour collections, mixing glassware, citrus details, florals, and foiled sentiments. The result is a richly layered design that feels celebratory, elegant, and endlessly adaptable.

Day 22 – Layering Stencils with Texture & Shine
The surprise on day twenty-two was a trio of layering stencils, perfect for creating custom backgrounds. I ink blended soft teals for the first layers, then added gold embossing powder through the final stencil using a tacky gel medium for extra texture. Finished with a foiled Sending Hugs sentiment, a handmade floral accent, and delicate gems, this card highlights just how versatile stencils can be.

Day 23 – Roller Skates, Arches & Retro Fun
Day twenty-three featured an adorable roller skate die set — complete with wings — and inspired me to revisit arch-shaped cards. I created a layered arch design with bold teals, reds, and whites, adding florals and a foiled birthday sentiment for a playful retro vibe. This card was pure fun from start to finish and a great reminder to revisit older dies with fresh ideas.

Day 24 – Good Luck Horseshoe & a Thoughtful Finale
The final day of the Crafty Advent Calendar revealed a charming horseshoe die with a Good Luck message and a four-leaf clover. I turned it into a soft, floral-accented card using layered embossing, decorative die-cut panels, and a favorite sentiment strip for the finishing touch. It felt like the perfect way to close out the series — creative, thoughtful, and full of possibility.

Creating 24 cards with the Spellbinders Crafty Advent Calendar 2025 was both a challenge and a gift. It pushed me to slow down, experiment, revisit older products, and trust the creative process — even on days when inspiration didn’t come instantly.
What I love most about this advent calendar is that it’s not seasonal in a limiting way. These are everyday crafting tools, meant to spark ideas long after December ends. Whether you opened your calendar day by day, saved it for later, or simply followed along through videos, I hope this series inspires you to look at your supplies with fresh eyes and create just for the joy of it.
