Let’s talk about the vibe right now. If you’ve opened the news, checked your email, or simply tried to drink coffee without chaos lately… yeah. Dumpster fires everywhere. That’s exactly why the Dumpster Fire Stamp & Die Set from Spellbinders’ This Is Life Collection feels so painfully perfect.
Today I’m sharing a set of cards featuring the Dumpster Fire set – and fair warning: these projects are equal parts relatable, sarcastic, and strangely adorable. Because if life is going to be a mess, it might as well be crafty.
Why the Dumpster Fire Stamp & Die Set Is Weirdly Perfect
First of all, let’s normalize crafting with humor. This stamp and die set doesn’t try to pretend everything is fine. It knows. And it leans in.
What makes this set extra awesome:

- The sentiments are cheeky, honest, and dangerously relatable.

Card #1: Slightly on Fire, But Absolutely Killing It
Let’s start with my personal life motto. This first card features a pink dumpster. Why pink? Because:
- Pink dumpsters exist (Pinterest confirmed it).
- If things are burning, they might as well be cute.
- Crafting has no rules.
Design Details:
- Dumpster color: Pink (because green is optional)
- Sentiment: “Slightly on fire, but absolutely killing it” — honestly, frame-worthy
- Glasses: From the Smart Glasses Die Set (because even dumpsters deserve personality)
- Accessories: A tiny flower from Mini Blooms & Sprigs
The glasses are layered (glitter cardstock + white cardstock), which adds dimension. Black gems scattered diagonally create movement – aka intentional chaos.
Background? The Molded Frame Embossing Folder, used simply because sometimes simple is enough when the focal point is literally on fire.
This card is 100% going to a friend who is thriving, surviving, and caffeinated.
Card #2: If You’re Going to Burn, Burn Brightly
Next up: a more classic dumpster. This one sticks closer to the Spellbinders website sample with a green dumpster, but with a twist – because I physically cannot leave things alone.
Fun Extras on This Card:
- Monster Eyes enamel stickers (yes, from my stash, yes, I lost them repeatedly)
- Optional swap: googly eyes — highly recommended for maximum joy
- Monocle & bow tie from Simon Hurley’s Spooktacular Collection
Suddenly, the dumpster looks… educated. Distinguished. Possibly judging you.
The sentiment “If you’re going to burn, burn brightly” pairs perfectly with the vibe of a dumpster that clearly has its life together – even if everything else doesn’t.
For the background, I partially embossed the Molded Frame folder. Why? Because experimentation is cheaper than therapy.
Card #3: Your Meltdown Is Safe With Me (My Favorite)
This one? This one hits. A yellow dumpster, red fire, dimensional enamel eyes popped up with foam adhesive, and a tiny tie that technically doesn’t fit—but emotionally does. Because details matter.
Why This Card Works:
- Unexpected floral background using Little Blooms from the Out & About Collection
- Dark green cardstock backdrop (Mountain Pine from Altenew)
- The contrast between “everything looks lovely” and “there’s a dumpster fire in the middle”
Isn’t that just life?
I also added green Color Essentials gems for subtle sparkle. The main panel ended up slightly smaller than planned (classic crafting moment), so I layered it onto a white A2 top-folding card base with extra cardstock panels for sturdiness.
Happy accident? Absolutely.
Why Stamp + Die Sets Matter (Especially for Quirky Designs)
One thing I really appreciate about the This Is Life Collection is that each design comes with matching sentiment stamps. Because let’s be real – finding a sentiment that works with a dumpster fire isn’t exactly easy. Would I love these as BetterPress or hot foil sentiments? Yes. Do the stamps still deliver? Also yes. They’re funny, honest, and usable – which is kind of the holy trinity of sentiment design.
