Simon Says Stamp | Vintage Christmas Card

Hey there! I have a vintage Christmas card to share today using a few goodies from Simon Says Stamp. My stamped cards rarely end up looking vintage, but with the new colors of ink from Simon, Merlot and Evergreen I couldn’t resist making a not so Clean & Simple card.

I started by stamping poinsettia and leaf outlines in Simon’s Intense Black ink onto white cardstock. I used my mini MISTI and stamped images several times for the most blackest black possible. To add color I used coordinating solid layers and stamped poinsettias in Merlot and leaves in Evergreen and Willow. I cut these images out using dies and colored flower centers white using a gel pen.

I wanted to have a slightly different sentiment, so I first heat embossed Peace in Simon’s Antique Gold embossing powder and next stamped Merry Christmas in Willow color below and above the Peace; finally I heat embossed little swirls above and below my sentiment to complete it.

I used Gingham background stamp and my regular MISTI and double stamped it in same Merlot color onto white cardstock. I didn’t plan to heat emboss it, but I did add clear embossing powder several minutes after I’ve stamped it and heat set it with my heat tool. I got an uneven vintage-looking coverage, just the look I was going for (I did something similar when I made a background for this card – there’s a video there, too).

I added lots of natural twine and adhered my background onto an A2 side folding card base made out of Olive cardstock. The poinsettia panel was foam mounted on top. I didn’t add any sequins or gems as I liked this card just as is.
