Simon Says Stamp | March 2016 Card Kit – Squishy Hugs. Video

Hello all! With all of my traveling this month I got my hands on the new Simon Says Stamp March 2016 My Favorite Peep Card Kit a bit late, so I’m only starting to share my projects now. The March 2016 kit is once again a fun one with adorable little peeps and matching dies, perfect for Easter cards or simple sweet cards for friends.

The card I’m sharing today features some die cut layering – there are a few extra layers here and lots of die cutting. I started by cutting a stitched rectangle using Simon’s Stitched Rectangle die out of beautiful Spring pattern paper from Echo Park (included in the kit), layered a stitched tag and stitched circle on top.

Both the tag and the circle were altered – I trimmed a part of each element to make them smaller/shorter (to keep the faux stitching everywhere I used the Stitched Rectangle die instead of scissors or paper trimmer for trimming).

My peeps were stamped first in Simon’s Intense Black ink (for the outline) and than in Twirling Tutu and Duckling. I coated both with some very old Martha Stewart glitter I found in my stash and I used glossy accents to adhere the glitter. Later I also experimented with other glitters, here’s a link to a photo on IG where I used glitters from Doodlebug, I plan to use those peeps on a few other cards.

When it came to stamping a sentiment I made a hot mess, I had the papers already foam mounted, but I still decided I could do it and stamped the sentiment onto a white semi circle. Needless to say that didn’t work so I had to look for a way to fix my mistake. I used another die from the Stitched Rectangles set from Simon (the smallest one) and stamped the Squishy Hugs sentiment in black and foam mounted that onto the card.

I also used a few sequins from the sequin mix pack included in the kit to dress up this project.

    1. Love your layered card. Clear rock candy glitter and Faber C glass bead gel also create a “sugary” look.
