Hero Arts | Great Tidings Of Joy – Scrapbook & Cards Today

Hello, there! I hope you’ve enjoyed Hero’s blog hop yesterday (be sure to hop if you haven’t yet and enter a giveaway). Today I’d like to post a card I am sharing on Scrapbook & Cards Today blog as a part of their Partner Appreciation Program.

A few words from Scrapbook & Cards Today:

What exactly is our Partner Celebration you ask? It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to feature the companies that we work with in the industry that allows us to bring Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine to the market and to YOU! But not only do we work with our partners for the magazine, our amazing partners work with us throughout the year with our Crop & Create events, our SCT Delivered kits, SCT Delivered classes and SO MUCH MORE! Without them we could not do what we do and August seems like a perfect month to tell them that. Of course, when we throw a party around here, we go all out! We’ll have prizes all through this month that you won’t want to miss.

I’m very excited to be able to contribute to Partner Celebration event for Hero Arts, Simon Says Stamp and Spellbinders.

CARD DETAILS

I used several new sets from Hero Arts Holiday 2017 Catalog to create this card. Color Layering Joy was used the stamp Joy onto the background using Pale Tomato, Crimson and Mulled Wine ink colors. I love how versatile this stamp set is and that there’s even a shadow layer to add onto the letters (I’ll admit, I didn’t realise right away what the shadow layer was used for and messed up a card or two by stamping the shadow in the middle of the letters, lol).

Next, I used Color Layering Holly and stamped a number of holly leaves filling in the background. I used Soft Olive, Moss and Forever Green colors.

I also heat embossed a banner from the Stamp & Cut Christmas Banner set and “Great Tidings Of Joy” in white embossing powder onto red cardstock and added a Happy Holidays message from the Stamp & Cut Jingle All The Way set in black ink.

    1. I was pleased to see you used that new Joy set, for I wanted to see it in action! It’s lovely, and I think using that banner set with die was so inspired, and using the very different greens in the holly and the ivy set adds a neat level of dimension. What puzzles me is that Hero Arts did not bring out a die set with this Joy stamp set and colors/embossing powder–I get it that HA is creating dimension without the actual die, but I’m missing it especially as I wouldn’t feel confident cutting it with that shadowing… Probably I need more experience to pull that one off, because you used it beautifully and gave dimension with the banner die-cut which I LOVE, it’s one gorgeous card! I hope you don’t mind my asking Hero Arts a “why question” about the non-appearance of the matching die for this set…

      Blessings to you,

      Joanne Lowe

      1. oh, I didn’t even notice there wasn’t a coordinating die, Joanne. One of the reasons that comes to mind is probably because you can stamp Joy with or without the shadow and this creates two different looks for which you’ll need to two different dies, does that make sense? And if both were to be included, my guess is the price point of the set would be too high. And if only one would be included some would be disappointed that the other one wasn’t. This is just my guess.

You can try stamping the Joy without the shadow onto two pieces of cardstock, cutting one out right up to the edge and stamping the shadow onto the other panel where you’d like to cut out Joy to be popped up. Hope this helps!

    1. What a fun card! I’ve got my eye on the Christmas Banner cut and stamp set. I just love the birds with the banner and can already imagine how I would like to use it! Thanks for another idea!!
