Simon Says Stamp | STAMPtember(R) Blog Hop – Painted-Like Stamped Background. Video + Giveaway (now closed)

Hello, everyone! And welcome to STAMPtember(R)! Are you excited? I know I am! All the new dies, new stamps, new card blanks! Woot-woot! STAMPtember(R) is the most awesome time of the year. If this is your first time hearing about STAMPtember(R) here’s a little explanation from Simon: an event intended to inspire, educate, and celebrate the greatness of rubber stamping. Doesn’t this sound fun? Lets get inky!

I am so excited to join the celebration! I have been busy stamping and die cutting for the past couple of days and I have lots of cards to share with you over the next few weeks. Today I’d like to share a video using one of my favorite stamps from the STAMPtember(R) release – Basic Stripes.

CARD DETAILS

I didn’t want to mount the stripe stamp straight onto my clear block and ended up giving it a bit of a curve for a fun and unexpected look. Love the way it turned out. I used 3 colors of ink to do my stamping – Twirling Tutu (lightest color), Teeny Bikini (medium color) and Hollyhock (darkest color). I stamped each stripe twice for a more vibrant look and also to give it a bit of an imperfection, I didn’t use misti stamping tool, but eyeballed my stamping and therefore was able to have that a bit of an imperfect stamping. My stamped stripes look like they’ve actually been painted onto the front of my card.

I also used feather stamps and dies as well as the Smile sentiment from the My Friend stamp set to stamp a few additional elements for this card. I used Duckling, Catkin and Scuba colors as well as a very pretty Stone ink.

I also used a few self-adhesive sequins from the Crate Paper’s Wonder Collection and added those onto my card for a pop of gold. The sentiment and some of the feathers were foam mounted for a bit of dimension. I also rounded the two bottom corners of this card using my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

    1. Pretty cards. Thanks for sharing!

My favorites of the new releases used in the bloghop are the stitched pumpkins dies and the stripes stamps. I love the maple leaf dies although I didn’t see anybody use them in the bloghop. I liked all the new releases and enjoyed seeing many of them used on projects. Any papercrafter will easily be able to find some new favs in this collection.

    1. I love the way you manipulated the stripes into curves… they almost look like broad washes of color painted across the background with a brush. Beautiful card!

    1. How much fun are stripes? Being a lover of plaid, I can see just how far these will help with achieving that. Fun card!

    1. Great job on your card. I love the feather dies you’ve used. My fave from this release is the stitched daisy dies and the leaf stamps!
      Thank you,

    1. Great look with those stamps. I love that you curved those individually stamped stripes. The ombre is a nice touch too.

    1. I’ve been seeing a number of background paper created with the basic stripes stamp set, but curving it is very creative!

I think I like the Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday circle dies the best because they are so delicate and elegant.

    1. Love your wonky ombre stripes. As for my favourites from this release, my list is long, but these are definitely on my wish list. Stamps: leaf bacground and graphic trees; die: snowflakes and daisies.

    1. Like your creative use of the stamped lines and bold colours. Thanks for the ideas and for sharing.
