Spellbinders | Embossed Wedding Cards. Video (Blog Hop & Giveaway)
Hello there! Today I’m sharing several wedding cards featuring dry and heat embossing techniques and cut & emboss folders from Spellbinders. My hubby and I have been invited to several weddings this Summer and whenever we go to a wedding I always love to give a handmade and not a card from a store so I though I’d make a couple to have on hand for the upcoming events.

CARDS DETAILS
Whenever I think of wedding cards I picture elegant, clean & simple designs with some shimmer and sparkle and beautiful texture.
I decided to use cut & emboss folders from Spellbinders to create the cards I’m sharing today. These are a new kind of folder that already have the die embedded in the folder so it embosses and cuts in a single pass.
I dry embossed several panels using 3 embossing folders (all linked below) and several colors of cardstock in my Spellbinder Platinum Die Cutting machine. It is best to use paper that is not very thick, you might have trouble cutting through 120lb cardstock, I tried 80lb white cardstock and 110lb colored cardstock and it cut fine. Thicker paper will emboss, but it might not cut all the way.
You can use these folders in most die cutting machines. To use in the Spellbinders Platinum machine you place the folder on the platform and cover with just one clear cutting plate.
To dress my dry embossed panels up I decided to do some color blocking and add detail with the help of heat embossing and embossing powder. I masked sections of my dry embossed background, blended/applied white pigment ink and covered it with White Satin Pearl embossing powder from Hero Arts.
I used mini ink dauber as well as direct to paper technique to apply ink onto my paper. I went with a very heavy layer of ink for most of my cards. The reason I blended white ink under my embossing powder is because embossing powder is clear and will show whatever color is underneath. I wanted heat embossed sections to be white or white-like so I blended white ink.
Once my panels were heat embossed I moved onto creating sentiments for my cards. I used clear stamps from 2 sets – one is from Sketchy Landmarks from Altenew it reads “For two special people on a very special day. May you live happily ever after” and another set that I used is Banner Sentiments from Papertrey Ink, this message reads “On Your Special Day” (discontinued).
These cards were easy to make and I’m hoping that they will be well liked!
