Pretty Pink Posh | Cherry Blossoms & Polychromos Pencils. Video + Blog Hop + Giveaway

Today I have a Spring Floral card to share featuring Cherry Blossoms stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh and pencil coloring with the help of Polychromos pencils from Faber Castell.
One of my favorite sets from this release is the Cherry Blossom set. Pretty Pink Posh now not only has fun critters to play with, but also these simple yet very beautiful outline flowers.

CARD DETAILS
I decided to use flowers for my card today and do some quick coloring using my Polychromos colored pencils. I started working on my card by stamping images from the Cherry Blossom set in black ink onto Toned Gray Sketch Paper from Strathmore using my mini MISTI.
I suggest you use some sort of a stamp positioner tool for your stamping as once you finish coloring you’ll need to re-stamp the image outline to make it crisp and black (when coloring with colored pencils over a black outline the outline becomes muted and dull).
Why did I pick gray paper and not white? The answer is – simply because I love to use my Polychromos pencils on non white papers. You can easily color your images with alcohol markers on white paper, but you can’t color with alcohol markers on non white papers and have the same look. With pencils, on the other hand, you can color even over black and have stunning, vibrant results.
I used Pinks, Greens and white for my coloring. I didn’t use any blending solutions, truth be told I’ve never used one, and I just blend the colors using my white pencil. I used Fuchsia #123, Pink Madder Lake #129 and White #101 to color the flowers. The green pencils I used are: May Green #170, Chrome Oxide Green #278 and Earth Green Yellowish #168.
Once my coloring was done I placed my colored panels back into my mini misti and re-stamped the images over my colored piece. I used same ink for my stamping. Just to be safe, I used my heat tool and zapped these with the heat for a few seconds. Colored pencils create a somewhat of a sleek surface where the ink needs a bit more time to dry, so to make sure I dont smear anything I heat set it just in case.
I used coordinating dies and cut these images out in my Spellbinders Platinum die cutting machine. Next, I created a floral cluster and picked a Happy Spring sentiment from the Bunny Friends stamp set to go with these flowers. I stamped sentiment in black ink onto 4 x 5 1/4″ panel, foam mounted the panel onto Fog Gray card base and foam mounted floral cluster on top. I used a white gel pen to add white dot details to my flowers.
To embellish this card I used new Jewels from Pretty Pink Posh in the color Watermelon. These jewels come is several colors and each pack has jewels of several sizes, the smallest are just about 2mm in size and together with the other size jewels they make perfect little embellishments. One last thing I did – I used my Tonic Aqua shimmer pen and I added some shimmer to all of the flowers on my card.
