Simon Says Stamp | Subtle Dry Embossed Details with a Stencil. Photo Tutorial

Hello friends! One of my favorite tools in cardmaking is stencils. These, while being inexpensive, are oh-so versatile! My today’s card uses a stencil to add subtle dry embossed details to a simple card.

CARD DETAILS

I started making this card by doing all of my stamping first. When adding dry embossing it’s important to plan ahead and do stamping prior to dry embossing as that will create a raised and uneven surface where perfect stamping would be impossible to achieve.

I stamped “Love You So So Much” using Willow and Black inks and stamps from the Love You Like stamp set by Cathy Z. I’m a huge fan of stamps by Cathy – love the clean look, bold lines and modern fonts she uses for her sets.

Next, I stamped branches from the Wreath Greetings stamp set – I added one above and one below the sentiment framing it in a way. I also stamped a few yellow dots/berries/flowers next to the branches – you can see them as dimensional dots on the photo above.

At this point I used a Solar Burst stencil and dry embossed a bottom part of this panel in my Platinum die cutting machine. You can dry emboss in any die cutting machine and using just about anything – you just need to have a rubber mat that is suitable for embossing.

I trimmed my panel and adhered it onto an A2 Fog gray card base. I also used Nuvo Drops in Morning Dew and coated those yellow stamped dots on my panel. I’ve been enjoying using this product so much I have now switched to the Grande size (and I also have my white dots in Grande bottle as well).
