Altenew | Watercolor Poinsettia & Pine Christmas Card
In my book it is never too early for Christmas cards. You can probablyΒ find me stamping something pretty using Holiday stamps in the middle of February. I am just that way, never tired of Christmas and Christmas cards.
Here’s a card I made back in August using a few Altenew holiday stamps; you might have already seen it on their blog, but I wanted to share it here well.
On a side note, I decided to step down from Altenew design team at the end of September and I will not be blogging on their blog any more, here’s a link to my last blog post, if you’d like to take a look.Β I’ll still be sharing plenty Altenew goodness on my blog and will be joining them for new release blog hops and such. I wish I could also blog, butΒ like you, I only have 25 hours in eachΒ day (oh wait, its just 24, lol!).
Like this project? Pin it and save for later!
Lets go back to the card. This is the type of card that I call a “one layer” – there’s just one layer of cardstock, rest are foam mounted embellishments. The base of this card is made out of Altenew Spice Yogurt cardstock, I love it for simple cards like this one. Following my “Perfect Cardmaking Formula” I added a gold antique trim and also several stamped and cut out elements.
To create these stamped elements I stamped poinsettia and holly leaves as well as a pine cone in VersaFine Onyx Black ink onto Arches watercolor paper. I used my Distress inks to watercolor these. I didn’t have coordinating dies for these, so I cut them using scissors right up to the edge.
I made my poinsettia dimensional – I stamped & colored this image twice; one was cut out as is and another one I cut out eliminating some of the outer petals to create a top layer which I foam mounted over the bottom one.
I wanted to add pine needles to this card, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to cut them out so I stamped them directly onto the card base instead. Love how it turned out. My sentiment came from another set,Β Sketchy Landmarks, and like pine needles was stamped inΒ Dark Chocolate ink. Lastly, I embellished this card several Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

October 1, 2016AH-MAZING card Yana!! So beautiful! Love the pine needles stamped on and embossed.
So sorry you won’t be a regular with Altenew but there aren’t 25 hours (OR more, in anyone’s day) so I get it.
As for me, I am an empty nester and my husband works shift work in the winter so you can almost always find me in Jan.- Mar. making Christmas cards alone, day or night (and happily doing so!)
